When I got home yesterday evening, I was happy to see three envelopes from Ticketmaster containing these:

Lots of live music to come and it begins next weekend. I wonder if Belew will have a backing band with him or not. A friend down in Chicago said that, the last time Belew played there, it was just him and he just sat there and played requests all night – solo, Crimson, The Bears – whatever. I’ll have to throw together a Belew-themed show before next weekend. I’m really looking forward to CGT. I’ve seen them at Shank previously but never with
Tony Levin. As for Steve Hackett, sure I can’t be the only person to have played air guitar to old Genesis as a teenager…?
I did some shopping today which included a visit to Mad City and I picked up a few CDs. First was
Sackcloth’n'Ashes by
16 Horsepower (R.I.P.). “Black Soul Choir” and “Redneck Reel” are great tunes. Next is
all your chicks are belong to us. by local goofballs,
Droids Attack. Lastly is the Afteglow 61 EP by
Son Volt. There’s a “Radio Mix” of “Afterglow 61″ and I can’t tell what the fucking difference is between it and the album version. In addition, there’s a live version of the non-LP track, “Joe Citizen Blues”, probably Farrar’s most political song ever.
