Remergence

I'm listening to the Roger Waters-full Pink Floyd from Live8. While the set was a basically a micro-greatest hits package ("Speak To Me-Breathe", "Money", "Wish You Were Here", and "Comfortably Numb" - mostly songs with Gilmour's lead vocals), their playing is pretty tight. And they also just sound better as a 4-piece plus guest saxophonist on "Money". Sound better than the monolith of 80 people that was Pink Floyd live in the late 80s and mid 90s. I like the sparser sound - the Floyd were always able to make a whole lotta noise as a 4-piece.

Wait. I guess Tim Renwick provided second guitar. Well, at least there wasn't a 2nd keyboardist, 2nd percussionist, and 14 backup singers. In all honesty, the prospect of Roger Waters rejoining Pink Floyd doesn't interest me much. Perhaps if they did another album but not purely as a touring entity. They wouldn't be able to play a venue smaller than Camp Randall Stadium and I suspect the setlist would mostly be culled from Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall - material that I'd need at least another 20 years before I'd actually want to hear it again. However, tunes from Obscured by Clouds, Animals, and Meddle would be cool.
