Show #15: The Show No One Has Been Waiting For

August 29th, 2005

Yes! It’s the show no one has been waiting for! It’s the super PROGRESSIVE ROCK MIX SHOW!!! Yes, kids, epic-length twiddling around with lyrics about mythical creatures from Pennsylvania! I know y’all just can’t wait.

Please note the two songs here that were performed live prior to being recorded in the studio:

“Raving and Drooling”
“My God”

Pink Floyd did a series of concerts in late 1974 premiering a trio of new songs: “Raving and Drooling”, “You’ve Gotta Be Crazy” and “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”. The first two were shelved and the band went on to build their album Wish You Were Here around the third. The songs were not forgotten, however, as they reemerged about three years later on Animals as “Sheep” and “Dogs”, respectively. “My God” is a song familiar to Tull fans, perhaps even to some casual ones. The version here was played in Chicago many months before it was recorded for the Aqualung album. There are some different lyrics and the flute section in the middle is improv instead of the well-orchestrated bit that appears on the album version.
