Genesis engineer Nick Davis reports that he has finished the 5.1 surround mix of the band’s 5th album, Selling England by the Pound and will be starting the remixing of the band’s 2nd album, Trespass, this week.

Ghost Reveries, the latest by Swedish death metal purveyors and friends of Porcupine Tree, Opeth, entered the Billboard charts at #64. They begin their tour of North America next month with the closest stop to Wisconsin being in Chicago: Here is their itinerary:

Also in a heavy vein, Tool have begun recording a new album four years after their last opus, Lateralus.

Jethro Tull will be performing at a benefit show for the victims of Hurricane Katrina on 21 October in Shreveport, Louisiana. Check out Tull’s webpage for more info.

Finally, Clarence Gatemouth Brown has died.. He was 81. His “Born in Louisiana” was part of the Mardi Gras mix tape we had back when I was a cook and I saw his several years ago at the Oscar Meyer Theater. He and his blend of blues, Cajun, and just about everything else will be missed.
