Today is the second anniversary of the death of The Man in Black, Johnny Cash. I think that, when he died, so did the most recognizable link between the 21st century and the rural folk music of the American South which helped birth rock’n'roll.
It was recorded at the Irving Plaza in New York City on 9 July 1996, just before Cash released Unchained.
