This week's podcast features someone who lives in my hometown of Madison, WI - Roscoe Mitchell. Mitchell is known primarily as a saxophonist but also plays the clarinet, flute, piccolo and oboe. He began his musical career in early 1960s by leading a hard bop sextet. He studied with Muhal Richard Abrams and joined the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians. In the late 60s, he became one of the founding member of the
Art Ensemble of Chicago, an experimental jazz outfit. And, since then, he has moved here to Madison and played jazz around the world.
The show at hand was recorded on 9 October 1989 at the Grand Cafe in Victoriaville, Quebec.

hi
thanks a lot for this great show.
any other free jazz or non mainstream jazz shows would be hugely appreciated.
You're quite welcome. Look for some Ornette Coleman soon.
