A Latin Luther's

Local music venue, Luther’s Blues, closed last year but it looks like the venue may reopen under different ownership and a different approach. Javier and Martin Palacios are looking to open a Latin dance club at the site.

“It’s an idea we’ve had for almost three years,” said Javier Palacios, who came to Madison from Mexico City 15 years ago. Martin followed two years later.

Javier Palacios’ wife is also from Mexico and her family used to run the popular restaurant, El Charro, first on Williamson Street and later on Monroe Street. Palacios worked there as a cook.

Palace Latin Club will double as a sports bar on weekend days, when the brothers plan to show pay-per-view soccer matches as well as American football, basketball games and other sporting events.

While I honestly have no idea how great a demand there is for such a facility, I wish the brother Palacios the best of luck. No dancer am I but I’d be all for checking out some World Cup action with a cocktail.
