Show #45: Rush: The Fear Trilogy (Mini)

A couple weeks ago I ran a mini-show each day of the week with the theme being American folk. I found that I rather liked the format and the variety I could squeeze into a week. Ergo I've decided to give it a try again but this time the theme is progressive rock.

To kick things off, I'm starting with a band that I've been listening to a lot lately - Rush. Rather than just throwing a couple disparate songs together, I've posted their Fear Trilogy. The Fear Trilogy is a trio (duh!) of songs whose lyrics all involve fear. (Duh!) They were released in reverse order on three consecutive albums. Released first on Moving Pictures from 1981 was Part 3 - "Witch Hunt". The following year saw Signals which contained Part 2 - "The Weapon". In 1984, the band rounded out the trilogy on Grace Under Pressure with Part 1 - "The Enemy Within".

The trilogy as presented here was recorded on 25 June 1984 here in my home state of Wisconsin at Milwaukee's Mecca Arena. It's an audience recording but a good one. You can hear a guy near the taper explaining the video of Count Floyd from SCTV introducing "The Weapon". (Duh!)
