R.I.P. - Pink Floyd
The Dutch Progressive Rock Pages report that the Pink Floyd are no more.
In a recent issue of the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica", there's an exclusive interview to Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour. The 60-year-old vocalist/guitarist debunked any rumours of a Pink Floyd reunion, telling the interviewer:
"I think I've had enough. I'm sixty and I don't feel like hard working anymore. It's a huge part of my memory, and I got enormous satisfaction from all we did, but that's enough. I feel much more comfortable working on my own".
Gilmour then procedeed to rule out any possibility of future collaborations with Roger Waters, explaining that the Live 8 reunion was a way to bury the hatchet for both him and the former Floyd frontman, and that there are no plans for future Pink Floyd releases whatsoever.
Speaking of working on his own, Gilmour has a new solo album due on 6 March called On an Island and he'll tour behind it. The American leg begins in April. While the Floyd is no more, Gilmour's merry band of touring musicians looks a lot like latter-day Floyd:
Richard Wright - member of PF
Guy Pratt - Floyd's replacement for Waters
Jon Carin - aided and abetted Wright on keys since '87
Steve DiStanislao - drums
Phil Manzanera - formerly of Roxy Music, producer of On an Island, and co-writer of Floyd material with Gilmour
