With King Crimson on hiatus until there’s music that needs to be made, fans can enjoy DGMLive.
The aim of DGM is to connect music, musician and audience in a way that supports the power of music, the integrity of the musician and the needs of the audience. DGM Live offers music for download with photographs, diary archives and audience commentary for browsing.
DGMLive is what the King Crimson Collector’s Club transmogrified into after it was determined that the KCCC was not a sustainable business model. The KCCC involved paying a lump sum for a new CD of an archived Crimson live performance every month. DGMLive presents a new show each month but, instead of CDs, buyers download the music directly to their computers. Folks can choose from the mp3 and FLAC formats.
DGM Live utilizes the latest in peer-to-peer technologies to deliver large music files across the internet. Files are distributed using BitTorrent, a file distribution utility that can dramatically increase the speed of your download by retrieving your content not only from DGM’s servers but from fellow downloaders simultaneously. Download it now.
In addition to BitTorrent downloads, you may also download your files directly from your web browser.
For anyone who’s too lazy to follow the links, the long and the short of it is that FLAC files incur no loss of fidelity whereas mp3s do. FLAC albums cost $12.95 while the mp3 versions are $9.95. There are Crimson concerts available from all eras of the band as well as various side and related projets.
