Madison muso Biff Blumfumgagnge made a post in the Isthmus forum indicating that there’s some momentum for a progressive rock festival right here in Madison. He wrote:
Rick (rick’s cafe) called me last week about a possible PROGFEST at the Barrymore in Madison. looking into a national headliner, but the band PROG and I think – a prog group from Racine – have been mentioned.
looking at the fall for timing.
i think it would be cool.
I presume the band from Racine he’s referring to is Kopecky. (PROG, of course, is Madison’s own prog rock cover band.) While Wisconsin isn’t really a hotbed of progressive rock, I know there’s gotta be some prog metal bands around. You know, kids who grew up on Dream Theater and Fates Warning like the folks in The Ottoman Empire. I’ve no idea what national headliners they’re pursuing. The California Guitar Trio will probably be in this neck of the woods come the autumn. Tempest will be in the Midwest is September. Personally, I think they should try to get Echolyn so I don’t have to drive to North Carolina in September to see them at ProgDay.

Well, if they did that, I’d go. Some lineup suggestions:
