Show #96: Coffee Creek (The Final Show)

November 27th, 2006

After posting my first show featuring Coffee Creek, I got to keep ‘em coming. And so here we go…

Coffee Creek was a side project of the members of Uncle Tupelo. It featured Jay Farrar, Jeff Tweedy, and Mike Heidhorn of UT along with Brian Henneman. At the time Henneman, was a roadie for Uncle Tupelo who also contributed guitar and mandolin to various studio sessions as well as in the live context. In 1992, he founded The Bottle Rockets.

Coffee Creek played only four shows and they consisted mostly of covers of country songs along with some country-inflected rock tunes as well. Each performance was at the tiney Cicero’s Basement Bar in St. Louis, Missouri. Here are the dates of the Coffee Creek performances:

12 December 1991
11 June 1992
29 July 1993
30 July 1993

This week’s show is the first half of the last gig they played in ‘93. There are only a couple songs that are repeated from my first show. It’s a soundboard and is of excellent quality.

Setlist:

Buckeroo (Buck Owens)
Are You Ready for the Country? (Neil Young)
Love’s Gonna Live Here Again (Buck Owens)
(Is Anybody Going to) San Antone? (Doug Sahm)
