Show #101: The Lamb Live Part II

This week I bring you part 2 of the lead-off performance of 2007 by Genesis. As I mentioned in part 1, this show was recorded at the Lakeland Theatre in Lakeland, Florida on 11 January 1975.

We pick up the story of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway with our hero, Rael, meeting up with the blind woman, Lilywhite Lilith. After being led to a waiting room and fleeing in terror, he has an encounter with Death who comes ready to claim Rael with aerosol can in hand. Escaping Death’s clutches, he then finds himself at a pool with a trio of lamia who sensually assault him. This leaves Rael disfigured as he has been transmogrified into a Slipperman.

This leads to all manner of mayhem and, in the pandemonium of the scree, Rael discovers something quite interesting about his brother John. After The Lamb, the group play the sole older (at the time) piece, “The Musical Box”.
