Spooner Fans

January 9th, 2007

I found out recently that I work with, Bob Bartel, the former manager of Spooner, a Madison band and precursor to Garbage. He has a website called Spooner Fans which, no doubt, makes for a nice trip down memory lane for a lot of Madison music fans. I didn’t move here until late in the band’s career so it’s all new to me. However, it is rather neat to see a youthful Dave Benton, who is now the proprietor of Mad City Music.

I’ve yet to work up the courage to approach Bob and ask if he’s got some live stuff he’d donate.

I missed the Spooner boat as well, but I do remember seeing in ad in the Isthmus to watch Firetown on Star Search (ithink) when I was in middle school.
Firetown was the transition group between Spooner + Garbage

I remember the whole Firetown thing. I could never really get into Garbage. There’s a couple songs of theirs I like but, overall, it just doesn’t appeal to me. I’ll take The Waterdogs instead.
