Show #162: Fish '07
This afternoon my girlfriend and I will seek safe passage to Milwaukee to catch Fish at Shank Hall on his first "proper" tour of America in over 20 years.

Last year Fish released his latest studio effort, 13th Star and toured Europe in support of it. It was also the 20th anniversary of Marillion's Clutching at Straws so he incorporated a large chunk of that album in the setlist. Earlier this year he was invited to play the progressive rock festival NEARFest which led to the current tour which started in San Francisco on Monday. (A local TV station there interviewed the big guy and you can read the conversation here.)
It's been a while since Fish was here in the Land of Cheese and I was there on 14 August 1997 the last time he swung through our fair state. Some kind soul recorded that show from the soundboard so you'll be able to hear it here some time. I'm really looking forward to the gig, not only because it's been so long since I've been to one of his gigs, but also because of the Clutching material he'll be playing. My brother's friend Don once told me that, since I liked old Genesis, I ought to check out Marillion, especially the Grendel EP. I couldn't find it so I went home that day with Clutching at Straws. And here we are nearly 21 years later with me still a fan and Fish touring in support of another album about the dissolution of a romance. Some things just never change.
