This week I’m featuring a great band from here in Madison – Killdozer. Although no longer together (full-time, anyway) they do gigs every once in a while and have three shows scheduled for this September in Chicago, St. Paul, and here in Madison.
I sent a message to drummer Dan Hobson who still lives here in town (I think he is also my neighbor) asking if he’d write some show notes for me but I never heard back from him. So I am going to skip the notes for now and hope that he just hasn’t checked his e-mail in a while. Keep the faith that he’ll eventually get my message and pen something which I can post here.
What we have before us is Killdozer’s show from O’Cayz Corral recorded on 6 October 1989. It’s a really nice audience recording.
Setlist:
New Pants and Shirt
Cyst
Space: 1999
Cotton Bolls
Good Lovin’ Gone Bad
Lupus
Gates of Heaven
“57”
I Am, I Said
King of Sex
Free Love in Amsterdam (cut)
…Richard
American Pie
Going to the Beach
La Grange
Elijah
YouTube isn’t exactly awash with Killdozer footage and the one clip from 1983 isn’t particularly watchable. O’Cayz burned down on 1 January 2001 and owner Cathy Dethmers would go on to open the High Noon Saloon. It’s fitting that we have some more recent (and better quality) footage of the band shot there.
