Les Paul, the pioneer of the solid-body electric guitar, died a few days ago. Paul was a Cheesehead (hailing of Waukesha, Wisconsin) and was truly a sine non qua of rock’n'roll. Not only did he innovate with the electric guitar, but he also invented overdubbing and multitrack recording, amongst other tricks of the trade that musicians now take for granted.
