What Will 2011 Bring?

January 23rd, 2011

Other than The Decemberists’ The King Is Dead I have no idea what albums of 2011 to look forward to. Rush might put out a new album and perhaps Porcupine Tree but I don’t know who is expected to release new music this year. Son Volt? Locally, I think that Reptile Palace Orchestra might be putting out a CD soon.

Honestly, when I think about albums that I want to buy, I think of filling in the gaps of my prog collection. I want to get the albums by the classic prog bands that I don’t have and replace old versions with remastered ones. Plus I have been itching to get my neo-prog house in order as well, especially IQ. Why I haven’t bought Frequency yet is a mystery and a shame. There are a few Marillion albums to get as well as The Sentinel by Pallas and Fact or Fiction by Twelfth Night.

I also want to pick up a couple albums from last year: Have One on Me by Joanna Newsom and vonFrickle’s eponymous disc.

So what are you looking forward to in 2011?
