Levin Torn White Preview

September 9th, 2011

Levin Torn White have released a sneak preview of their upcoming album. The self-titled debut comes out on the 13th. Who are these guys? Alan White of Yes, David Torn about whom I know nothing, and Tony Levin who has played with just about everyone but prog aficionados will know him from his work with Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, etc.

Their website describes the album as “A collaborative beat down of original progressive rock instrumentals by three legendary musicians.” My impressions of this new material: Levin rocks. Par for the course. Torn makes great noise whether it be honest to Christ notes or just chaos. White is also great here. I haven’t heard playing from him that was this interesting and animated in decades. Great stuff.
