I’ve been meaning to put this show up for a while now but just never got around to it. When I saw Steve Earle’s character, Harley, die on Treme, I thought some music by him would be appropriate. This is Earle’s performance here in Madison at The Progressive magazine’s 95th anniversary party. The date was 8 May 2004 and the shindig was held at the Orpheum Theatre.

I e-mailed The Progressive to find out if they had any photos I could use but never heard from them. And I can’t find any video on YouTube.

While this show is now 7+ years old, Earle’s songs and banter between them are still relevant today with Occupy Wall Street, the same old wars, Obama, The Tea Party, and so on.

This is a great soundboard recording.
