Storm Corrosion: “Drag Ropes”

May 23rd, 2012

Storm Corrosion is a collaboration between Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth and Steve Wilson from Porcupine Tree. This is “Drag Ropes” from SC’s eponymous debut which was released on the 7th of this month. Taking into account Opeth’s last album, Heritage, and Wilson’s solo effort Grace for Drowning, this song sounds pretty much like you’d expect it to. There’s flute, Mellotron chorus, and that Lizard-inspired gloom. I wasn’t quite expecting all the harmony vocals but they’re fantastic.
